March 23 Rally in Washington, DC to Go Forward

Haitians are continuing to organize for a large rally in Washington, DC on March 23 to demand equal treatment for Haitian Immigrants. Organizing is being done in South Florida, in New York, in Connecticut, in Boston, Massachussetts and in other localities north, south and west. We will post additonal information soon. Meanwhile, those who are interested in attending should contact Sandrine Desamours at NCHR.

Funds are also urgently needed to provide travel subsidies to those who cannot afford the cost of bus travel to Washington, DC. If you wish to support the effort, but cannot take the time out to go, you can donate. A contribution of $50 would help defray the cost of a round-trip bus travel from New York City to Washington, DC. Please contact NCHR for further instructions.

There is also a lot that can be done locally to communicate support for the legislative measures pending in the House and in the Senate. Letters to the editor of your local paper may be reprinted. Pay a visit to your representative at the local congressional office. Endorse the sign-on letter letter that is being circulated nationwide. Or write your own letter to your local elected representative and the Senators of the State in which you reside.

Need more ideas? Need to understand the issue better. Contact us at NCHR. We will be more than happy to bring you up to date with accurate news, information and analysis.
